If you remove the electronic unit from the bassinet frame, you will see a small screw on the backside (not on the part with the speaker, but the backside of the front piece). Use a phillips head screw driver to open the battery compartment. Thanks for your interest in our Tender Vibes Bassinet. While there is no standard mattress size for Bassinets, the Tender Vibes has a roomy bed size comparable with other non-travel bassinets on the market. The feature that makes the Bassinet easy to travel with is the folding frame.
